‘Law & Purchase: SVU’ Stars Fork out Tribute to Richard Belzer


Mariska Hargitay and other “Regulation & Order: Unique Victims Device” cast members are mourning one of their own.

Richard Belzer, who played detective John Munch on the NBC sequence for 15 complete seasons following originating the role on “Murder: Lifestyle on the Street,” died Feb. 19. The actor, who was also a standup comedian and writer of conspiracy principle textbooks, was 78.

“Goodbye my dear, dear mate,” Mariska, who plays Olivia Benson on “Law & Buy: SVU,” wrote on her Instagram. “I will skip you, your exceptional light-weight, and your singular just take on this bizarre globe.”

The actress continued, “I feel blessed to have acknowledged you and adored you and labored with you, facet by aspect, for so several yrs. How blessed the angels are to have you. I can listen to them laughing previously. I adore you so incredibly a lot, now and forever.”

Christopher Meloni, who plays Elliot Stabler on “Regulation & Purchase: SVU,” also compensated tribute to Belzer on social media. The actor tweeted a image of himself kissing his late co-star’s cheek at the comic’s 2001 Friars Club Roast, with Hargitay smiling driving them.

“Fantastic bye mon ami,” Meloni wrote. “I enjoy you. #TheBelz.”

Meanwhile, Dean Winters, who performed Munch’s partner Brian Cassidy on “Legislation & Purchase: SVU,” shared a cast image of himself and Belzer on Instagram.

“Richard Belzer was my brother,” Winters wrote. “We grew to become rapid buddies in ’92 when I was a bartender, quicker mates when I did my 1st work on NBC’s Homicide: Life ON THE Avenue and in 1998 he identified as me and said ‘baby, Dick Wolf is doing a new demonstrate identified as Regulation and Purchase SVU and he needs me to be on it. I told Dick ‘Only if you make Dean Winters my spouse, Brian Cassidy’ Infant, are you in?’ I was in.”

Winters added, “There aren’t a whole lot of men and women with course like that still left. ‘Classe non e acqua’ Every person can have drinking water, not everybody can have class. Richard Belzer had course for days. I will pass up this guy pretty a great deal.”

Belzer died Sunday at his dwelling in Bozouls in southern France, his longtime friend Bill Scheft informed The Hollywood Reporter.
