The new regulation provides DeSantis authority to appoint the district’s five-member Board of Supervisors. It also removes parts of the district’s authority, such as the electricity to possibly construct a nuclear electricity plant, airport, and stadium.

The revamped district will continue on to have broad-ranging authority, including the potential to levy assets taxes and fees, problem bonds, and deliver products and services these types of as water and sewer units, streets, and parking services.

Board members appointed by DeSantis would be matter to Senate confirmation.

Appointees could not be employees, owners, or operators of theme parks.
