The new calf stands about 5 ft tall and weighs 150 pounds. The father is 5-calendar year-old Malcolm and this is his sixth calf.

On Monday, the new calf manufactured his show debut and was welcomed by the rest of the herd.

“The calf appeared to be unfazed by the other folks in the herd as they slowly approached him to get a nearer glance and an occasional a lick from their almost 20-inch prolonged tongues. He invested the morning getting superior acquainted with the herd even though checking out the habitat from one particular end to the other. The neonatal examination that was executed on Saturday indicated that the calf is powerful and balanced,” zoo officials reported.

“The plan is for mother and calf to be out with the rest of the herd day-to-day, assuming all goes properly.”
