MELBOURNE – A Florida police officer is in jail soon after an hourslong armed standoff with a sheriff’s business SWAT workforce, throughout which he reportedly fired pictures inside his property.
The episode began with a domestic dispute Wednesday night time concerning Cocoa Law enforcement Officer Patrick Kelly and a female who is also an officer at the similar company, a statement from the law enforcement division stated.
Deputies from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office have been referred to as to Kelly’s property in Viera, the assertion reported, and the SWAT group was identified as when Kelly refused to appear out.
“Officer Kelly was armed and was actively taking pictures within of the home,” according to police. “Immediately after numerous several hours, Officer Kelly surrendered without having even more incident. There were being no accidents.”
Kelly is now facing prices of aggravated assault with a fatal weapon involving domestic violence and discharging a firearm. He remained in jail on no bond Thursday night, and on-line courtroom information display he has entered a plea of not responsible.
Kelly was arrested in 2017 for felony domestic violence battery, but he was authorized to keep on the law enforcement drive after rates have been dropped, the assertion stated.
Kelly, who has been with the division for 15 years, has been suspended without fork out pending termination.
