Smoke from Lauderdale Lakes condominium fire displaces neighbors, bunny rescued


MIAMI – A pet bunny named ‘Pree’ was safely and securely rescued and reunited with his owners Tuesday afternoon just after a mid-early morning hearth destroyed a to start with-ground apartment in Lauderdale Lakes.

The Broward Sheriff Hearth Rescue been given the call of an condominium hearth at about 11:45 a.m. in the 2700 block of NW 29th Street, Condominium 102.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a first-ground apartment bed room.

Firefighters had the blaze below regulate in beneath 20 minutes, authorities said. 

The affected apartment had been vacant for some time, firefighters uncovered. 

The blaze was contained to device 103, but at least a few adjacent apartments acquired smoke hurt and have been declared temporarily unlivable.

“Although we are saddened that a number of family members have been bunt out of their apartments now, we are grateful that neither civilians nor firefighters ended up hurt and we had been equipped to reunite just one of the people with their family members pet bunny rabbit,” officials explained. 

About 30 firefighters in total responded to the scene and no accidents had been described. 

The blaze will be investigated by the Florida Point out Fire Marshal.
