A protester was arrested Wednesday immediately after hurling eggs and vitriol at King Charles III and Camilla, the queen consort, as they walked in the northern England town of York.
The incident occurred as the king and his spouse ended up moving into York by way of Micklegate Bar, a medieval gateway wherever monarchs are ordinarily welcomed to the city.
Video clip footage confirmed several eggs in motion and smashed on the ground. None appeared to hit the royal pair, who continued to greet crowds.

Many police officers could be seen grappling with a guy at a group barrier. Britain’s PA news company reported that he booed and shouted “This place was created on the blood of slaves” as he was being detained.
Other users of the crowd tried out to drown him out by chanting “Shame on you” and “God conserve the King.”
Charles and Camilla traveled to York as part of a sequence of engagements all over the U.K. marking the commence of the new king’s reign. They also frequented the city’s cathedral, York Minster, and unveiled a statue of the king’s mother. Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September soon after 70 many years on the throne.
