NAPLES – A lady from Massachusetts was arrested Tuesday evening right after a crash that killed a Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputy.
In accordance to the Florida Freeway Patrol, the 23-calendar year-aged deputy experienced pulled more than a Honda in the northbound lanes of I-75, south of US-17, all-around 8:45 p.m. Both of those the Honda and the deputy’s auto were on the paved shoulder of the road, and the deputy’s lights ended up on. Both of those the deputy and the Honda driver have been outside of their cars.
Cassandra Smith, 30, from Lakeville, Massachusetts, was driving north on I-75 when she shed manage of her Jeep, crossed over lanes and went onto the paved shoulder. She hit the deputy’s automobile, which hit him, the driver of the Honda, and the Honda by itself.
The deputy was taken to ShorePoint Wellness, in which he later died. The driver of the Honda was also hospitalized.
Smith faces DUI manslaughter charges.
