Why David Foster Isn’t going to Regret Owning a Child at Age 71


David Foster was all the way in on obtaining a further child in his 70s.

The music producer, now 72, and his wife, Katharine McPhee, 38, welcomed their son Rennie, 20 months, in February 2021. 

“I haven’t regretted a one working day of it,” he told People, even though also admitting having a toddler later in life wasn’t anything he’d regarded prior to. “I have beloved every single one day.”

“It’s the standard thing of like, ‘Oh, properly you have been so young when you experienced your youngsters and you ended up doing the job working day and evening, you never ever noticed them,'” he ongoing. “And there is some reality to that, regrettably, for my [older] youngsters. I was just doing work a ton.”

This time all around, he mentioned, “Even though I am doing work a ton now, I will cancel something just to dangle with him. It is just various.”

Foster is also the father of 5 grownup daughters from preceding associations — Allison, 52, Amy, 49, Sara, 41, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36. 

And with McPhee and Foster as his mother and father, Rennie already has some rhythm of his possess.

Back in August, Foster shared a clip of Rennie tapping absent on an electronic drum pad with his pretty own picket drum sticks. David captioned the Instagram post, “Is this usual for a 17-month-aged?”

Erin Foster commented, “The musician gene has ultimately been handed down. I am still ready for mine to kick in.”

Despite his success, Foster would somewhat see his son comply with a various career route. “I would rather he have a tennis racket in his hand than a drumstick to tell you the real truth,” he told People. “But in any case, if he ends up staying a drummer, that would be excellent too.”
