MIAMI – Sunday early morning, Miami-Dade County threw the first once-a-year Hometown Heroes Parade in honor of health care personnel, 1st responders and regulation enforcement — particularly the essential job they played at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The parade commenced 11 a.m. at the InterContinental Miami Resort in the vicinity of Bayfront Park, proceeded alongside Biscayne Blvd., and finished at the FTX Arena.
“This essential local community party assists improve the narrative on who our heroes definitely are,” said Miami-Dade Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins.
“Numerous small children idolize athletes or musicians, but we must present them that our frontline staff of policemen, firemen, and nurses are our true heroes.”
The parade featured police, K-9 models, special forces, health care employees, marching bands and extra. On top of that, there was a “drinking water parade” to celebrate the marine division very first responders.
At the arena, contributors and bystanders ended up invited to sign up for the Relatives Fun Fest. The function incorporated a costume contest, food stuff vehicles, dwell audio and much more and runs through 6 p.m.
The Hometown Heroes Parade was made by the Miami-Dade County Board of Commissioners, spearheaded by Cohen Higgins and Vice Chairman Oliver Gilbert.
Alongside one another they sponsored a resolution contacting for an annual countywide celebration to honor initial responders and healthcare employees for their focused services prior to, for the duration of and just after the pandemic.
“This celebration serves as a way to honor and praise our courageous adult men and females that place their lives on the line just about every day to preserve us harmless. That’s why I am proud to have introduced the legislation to produce this party and so grateful for the aid of my colleagues and mayor,” said Cohen Higgins.
