TALLAHASSEE – Eleven faculty districts that submitted LGBTQ-help guides to state instruction officers this fall will have to update procedures, according to a senior chancellor with the Florida Office of Schooling.
Schooling Commissioner Manny Diaz Jr. in August directed personnel users to “pull” district guidance guides to evaluate their content.
Senior Chancellor Jacob Oliva instructed users of the Point out Board of Education on Wednesday that 31 districts submitted guidance guides and procedures, with 11 necessary to update the files to comply with condition laws.
Oliva said he expects the districts to update the guidelines by the future state board assembly in January.
Scrutiny of assist guides came following State Board of Schooling member Ryan Petty expressed “grave fears” throughout an August board meeting.
