MIAMI – Forecasters say Tropical Storm Earl shaped east of the Northern Leeward Islands late Friday and is threatening significant rains and gusty squalls in the location.
The U.S. Countrywide Hurricane Centre in Miami mentioned Earl was headed generally west-northwest on a system anticipated to consider it close to or just north of the Northern Leeward Islands on Saturday.
The storm was east of the Northern Leeward Islands and had major sustained winds of 40 mph. Forecasters reported some slight strengthening was possible in the upcoming several times.
The center mentioned Earl was initially predicted to initially unfold large rains around the Leeward Islands, and then also Puerto Rico and the British and U.S. Virgin Islands as it was forecast to go north of those other islands.
Some rivers and streams could increase promptly in Puerto Rico, elevating the danger of flash flooding, and there was a threat of gusty squalls along the storm’s route.
