Report: Matt Gaetz unlikely to face charges in intercourse trafficking probe

TALLAHASSEE – The Washington Post documented Friday that U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., is unlikely to be billed soon after a federal investigation that targeted on allegations he had intercourse with a 17-12 months-aged woman.

The Post, citing unidentified sources, said job prosecutors have encouraged against charging Gaetz.

It claimed the prosecutors have concluded that a conviction would be unlikely mainly because of reliability challenges of witnesses, such as previous Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg, who pleaded guilty final calendar year to crimes these types of as sexual intercourse trafficking of a minimal.

Gaetz is managing for re-election in November in Northwest Florida’s Congressional District 1.
