Hollywood School On Code Red Lockdown, Students Sent Home, After Nearby Shooting


HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Students at a Hollywood elementary school will not have class on Monday following a shooting in a nearby neighborhood.

The shooting took place in the area of 73rd Avenue and Johnson Street around 6:00 a.m., according to Hollywood Police.

Police are actively searching the area with K9.

The condition of the shooting victim is unknown.

Meantime, Boulevard Heights Elementary School is on a code red lockdown due to the policy activity in the area, According to Broward County Schools officials.

Students who were already dropped off or on a bus were taken to McArthur High where parents are picking up their kids. There will be no school on Monday for Boulevard Heights Elementary, say school officials.

School administrators are in direct contact with parents.
